Soooo, as if Marti and I haven't come up with enough crafty shenanigans (some of which coming up are SO FREAKING COOL, may I just add), we've decided to add another one to our proverbial plates - this one, not so crafty-related, hence the new BLOG!

So every month we've decided to set three 'small' goals for ourselves each in the categories of diet and exercise. We will focus on those goals for the entire month so as to not overwhelm ourselves or ask too much of ourselves (for now) so the temptation to quit is more unlikely (we're hoping!). If you wanna participate, feel free and let us know how it's working out for you! Or if you've got any tips, tricks, encouragement or suggestions, we ALWAYS want to hear them, so be sure to let us know!

Here we gooooo...

*sigh*

Catherine is obviously more committed than me - at least to the blog part HAHAHHA!! but i am here and posting!

once upon a time i was the girl everyone hated - stick thin, no exercise, ate like crap, ate anything i wanted NEVER gained an ounce. i weighed LESS after having my first 2 kids than i weighed before. i used to joke about how i would hit 40 and my metabolism would come to a screeching halt and i wouldn't know what to do - welllllllllll here i am - 40 looming and 25+ pounds more than i want to be and gaining steadily.

we aren't doing exactly the same thing but we ARE going to support each other and MAYBE be held accountable with this blog. so cat said baby steps - THREE things each month - she didn't say three dietary changes AND three exercise changes ROTFLMAO!!!

but here is mine laid out

  1. i am so on board with the water thing too - not because i like it - i can go WEEKS on coffee only. i don't drink soda, i don't drink juice, i don't drink alcohol i just don't drink....except for coffee - which my hubby insists is anti-drinking. So more water - i swear i have to pee like all the friggin time - ridiculous. even bought those crystal light things to put some flavor in it - like that helps - not like i drank anything flavored before - i am aiming for 4-6 which for me would be a drastic improvement!!
  2. Exercise - i have two options here - get out of the house and take pez for a walk - except i feel like it may never stop raining here. and a DVD called rockin body that kev bought me when i saw it on the website he got p90x from. rockin body is basically dancing or line dancing. now back when i was the girl who never gained i did QUITE my share of clubbing and could stay on the dance floor longer than anyone (those latin genes for ya). yea well apparently that part of the younger me left too cuz WOW can i NOT dance anymore! so my goal is 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times a week.
  3. Finally - weight watchers. i joined back at xmas when i saw how well my dad and step mom had done with it - they looked GREAT! so hubby and i decided to join. i get 18 points a day......do you know how LITTLE food it takes to get to 18 points??? i was STARVING!! but i was doing it - after about a month hubby lost so much weight he had to stop and i had lost 4 pounds - alllll that suffering.......so CHA happened and that was all she wrote. however i know many people have been very successful and it really is just a handy way to keep an eye on what and how much i am eating. so day 1 when i was not even trying - 32 points AH HAHAHHAHHAHHAHA!!!! NO WONDER right? day 2 22.5 points (plus cake but i am pretty sure that when it is your OWN bday cake it doesn't really have points right???) it was the last piece so temptation gone.

i went to the grocery store like Cat and stocked up on some better food choice options - LOADS of fruit for a fruit salad, all the fixins for fresh salsa - heavenly with chicken and fish, lots of fiber one foods - cereal, snacks, their yummy yogurt....so here we go......the only part i am excited about is that i get to make a banner HAHAHHHA i LOVE to play in photoshop and just got a bunch of new goodies on sale this weekend!

we'd sure love any encouraging words, thoughts, advice or hey EVEN JOIN IN!!!!

hugs

M

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who went from eating everything to looking at food and putting on weight. Thanks for sharing your journey.

BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHA...I think if we can keep ourselves laughing, we might be able to stick with it for a while...and please, birthday cake, when it's your own, has NEGATIVE calories. In fact, you lost weight by eating that cake! But it only works on birthday cake.

High five on the 22.5 points girlfriend!!! Only 4.5 more points to drop and you are laughin'!
